U15 Squad Parents - for info - please read
Squad & Summer Training The 57 players who are selected as part of the training squad will form the mainstay for selection purposes going forward. After 28 Mar selection will be held for the 11 Apr game. Post the 11 Apr game and with the return of the Heathfield players, selection will be made for the 25 Apr and May games. Going forward, we will be holding a Coaching Summer Camp (CSS), towards the end of August - this is likely to be 3 days and residential. Location and dates will be confirmed as soon as possible and sent out. We will be inviting some additional players to attend this camp, and liaising with coaches to nominate players who are good enough going forward into the 16s. The selection of additional players will be tightly controlled. From the CSS a 57 training squad will be selected - this means that there WILL be movement of players and just because a player is in the squad this year (or not), there will be players dropped from the squad and players brought into the squad. Liaison with Coaches I am keen that we foster a good relationship with coaches and Schools in Sussex. Once the fixture list is announced for next season, the team will be watching games and asking for advice on any players that are coming on well or returning from long term injury. To this end, can all coaches and Schools look to attend a Sussex briefing/meeting at Brighton Rugby Club at 1900 on Mon 10 May - we intend to let everyone know what is going on and how things will be running etc and make sure everyone is in the know and aware of how things are happening. Hopefully this will form the start of a solid working relationship before we handover the age group at U20 level. Progression Divisional Trials are ear marked for the Hertfordshire game, however, we have been asked by LSE Div to make them aware of any players missing who are potentially of the required standard. Similarly, we have been asked for early feedback to the England U18 team for players coming along; they will then come and look at games next season as needed. Press & Media Kathy Bowry has volunteered to help with our press & media reporting. She is welcome as part of the Management Team and she will be publishing match reports to the Sussex Office for the website and also to local media. If anyone has any local press contacts around the county, can they please liaise with Kathy. Tour (July 2012) This is obviously some way in the future, but we will be organising a County Tour to one of the following Japan - New Zealand - South Africa. We are looking at potential options and itineraries now. This will require a large fundraising effort over the next few seasons when location and dates are confirmed. Sponsorship & Fundraising I am checking with Sussex what we, as an age group, can do for ourselves. However, whilst this is being confirmed, I would like to identify an age group fund raising committee. This would be to raise funds through either sponsorship, events etc in order to supply kit, gear and other items to the players. I would to see all players kitted out professionally, looking and feeling the part of a decent rugby set up. Also, the tour will feature heavily in this activity over the next few seasons. Anyone interested in this, please let me know. Video & analysis I am looking for 4 x parents to assist and form a 'footage' team. This team would be equipped with their own camera's and video each match (preferably from both sides of the pitch). As we go forward, this footage will be used for analysis - again, I am keen for volunteers to come forward to analyse the footage for match statistics - carrys, tackles, ruck count etc. Touch Judges In case Sussex cannot provide 3 x officials a game, I am looking for volunteer touch judges, likely to be called into action during the day. This pool of touch judges will be asked to bring kit and to run the line if required on a match day due to unavailability of officials. Can you let me know if you are interested.
Dates for U16 2010/11 Season I am hoping to organise, off the back of the summer camp, a number of friendly fixtures against local schools - Hurst, Eastbourne and Brighton College have all showed an interest. In summary terms, and these are yet to be confirmed, we have the following dates as:
U16 sessions in the 2010/11 season; 12 Sep - Training 03 Oct - Training 17 Oct - Training 24 Oct - Match, Hants 31 Oct - Match, Essex 10 Nov - Match, Surrey 28 Nov - Match, Herts 1 2 Dec - Div Trials More to follow as confirmed. Please contact me with any questions. I will try and answer fully; if I don't apologies in advance!! Tudor Ellis U15 Team Manager 07775 601224
